Then, simply follow the easy instructions below to craft your Easter Cake Topper!
Step 1: Begin by using the Sizzix Big Shot Die Cutting machine to die cut all of your elements - except the white banner. The Large Egg Bigz Die should be cut from Sizzix Patterned Paper and Sizzix White Mat Board to add strength. The Bold Alphabet Letters should be cut from Shrink Plastic and all other elements should be cut from coloured cardstock.
Step 2: Using either a Sizzix or Ranger Heat Tool, shrink the Bold Alphabet Letters. You should shrink each letter, one by one, as each die-cut element will need to be controlled using tweezers or the Shrink Plastic Accessories .
Once the letter stops shrinking under the heat of the heat tool, quickly apply an object with a flat surface so that the letters harden flat. We used a Sizzix Heat Tool Accessory Stamper but if you do not have this available, you can use a ruler or even a book. Remember not to apply too much pressure, just enough to keep the letter flat while cooling.
Step 3: Take your Mint Julep, Cherry Blossom & Mango Tango (or chosen colours) Embossing Powder and a Ranger or Sizzix Embossing Ink Pad. Press the shrunk letter into the pad so that the front is covered in clear embossing ink. Place your letter element face up and cover with Sizzix Embossing Powder.
Step 4: Use your chosen Heat Tool to set each colour of Embossing Powder and repeat until the letter element is covered with an enamel-like coating of opaque embossing powder. Then, set the powder using the Heat Tool. The colours we used were Sizzix Cherry Blossom, Mint Julep and Mango Tango. We repeated these three colours so that no letters are coloured the same as the next and are all unique.
Step 5: Once all letters have a good covering of Embossing Powder, use Sizzix Express Glue or Dot & Dab Tacky Glue to adhere them on white card. Cut a rectangle around the letters with about an 0.4 inch gap and cut another rectangle of white card, roughly the same size. Cut each end off and use scissors to cut a chevron shape on each end. Adhere to the back of the main sentiment rectangle using Dot & Dab Foam Tape.
Step 5: Finally, assemble all of your die-cut elements as shown in the main image. The bunny element should be adhered using Dot & Dab Foam Tape to add dimension. Using a hot Glue Gun, attach the stick to the back of the Die Cut Egg Shape on Mat Board.
Voilà!! Your Easter Cake Topper is complete!
