This fun tropical project is the perfect make for kids in the school holidays, or if you love nothing more than reading in the sunshine you'll love this make too!

Materials:

Abbreviations (UK terms):

  • ch – chain
  • dc – double crochet
  • sl st – slip stitch
  • st(s) – stitch(es)

First Pineapple

Using Yellow, 4ch.

Rnd 1: 2dc in second ch from hook, dc in next ch, 4dc in last ch, working in underside of ch, dc in next ch, 2dc in last ch, join with sl st to first dc – 10dc.

Rnd 2: Ch1, 2dc in each of next 2sts, dc, 2dc in each of next 4sts, dc, 2dc in each of next 2sts, join with sl st to first dc – 18dc.

To make Leaves, join Green, * 3ch, dc in second ch from hook, dc in next ch, sl st in first dc of Rnd 2, rep from * twice more.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Next Pineapple (make 4)

Using Yellow, 4ch.

Rnd 1: 2dc in second ch from hook, dc in next ch, 4dc in last ch, working in underside of ch, dc in next ch, 2dc in last ch, join with sl st to first dc – 10dc.

Rnd 2: Ch1, 2dc in each of next 2sts, dc, 2dc in each of next 2sts, sl st to top of centre leaf on previous Pineapple, 2dc in each of next 2sts, dc, 2dc in each of next 2sts, join with sl st to first dc – 18dc.

To make Leaves, join Green, * 3ch, dc in second ch from hook, dc in next ch, sl st in first dc of Rnd 2, rep from * twice more.

Fasten off and weave in ends.
