If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably got jewellery strewn all over your bedroom and bathroom. Am I close? Thought so. Well, a solution to this problem is these extremely cute little nesting baskets!

This pattern is a great introduction to colour work if you haven’t tried it before. It’s not as scary as it looks, promise! I’ve even made a little tutorial video to show you the basics:

Materials:

  • 5mm Hook
  • 2 x Yarn and Colours Fabulous in Grey
  • 1 x Yarn and Colours Fabulous in Lilac, Yellow and Mint
  • Wool Needle

Small Nesting Basket

Rnd 1

Using grey, ch3 and then 9htr into first ch (furthest from hook). Slst to first st and ch2. (10sts)

Rnd 2

2htr into each st around, slst to first st and ch2. (20sts)

Rnd 3

2htr into first st then 1htr into next. Cont alternating between 2htr and 1htr all way around. Slst to first st and ch2. (30sts)

Rnd 4

Working in back loops only (BL), 1htr into each st around. Slst to first st and ch2. (30sts)

Rnds 5 & 6

Follow the chart below to add Lilac. These 2 rnds are worked as normal, not in BL. (30sts)

Medium Nesting Basket

Rnd 1

Using grey, ch3 and then 9htr into first ch (furthest from hook). Slst to first st and ch2. (10sts)

Rnd 2

2htr into each st around, slst to first st and ch2. (20sts)

Rnd 3

2htr into first st then 1htr into next. Cont alternating between 2htr and 1htr all way around. Slst to first st and ch2. (30sts)

Rnd 4

2htr into first st then 1htr into each of next 2sts. Cont this sequence (2ht, 1ht, 1htr) all way around. Slst to first st and ch2. (40sts)

Rnd 5

Working in back loops only (BL), 1htr into each st around. Slst to first st and ch2. (40sts)

Rnds 6 - 8

Follow the chart below to add Mint. These rnds are worked as normal, not in BL. (40sts)

Large Nesting Basket

Rnd 1

Using grey, ch3 and then 9htr into first ch (furthest from hook). Slst to first st and ch2. (10sts)

Rnd 2

2htr into each st around, slst to first st and ch2. (20sts)

Rnd 3

2htr into first st then 1htr into next. Cont alternating between 2htr and 1htr all way around. Slst to first st and ch2. (30sts)

Rnd 4

2htr into first st then 1htr into each of next 2sts. Cont this sequence (2ht, 1ht, 1htr) all way around. Slst to first st and ch2. (40sts)

Rnd 5

2htr into first st then 1htr into each of next 3sts. Cont this sequence (2ht, 1ht, 1htr, 1htr) all way around. Slst to first st and ch2. (50sts)

Rnd 6

Working in back loops only (BL), 1htr into each st around. Slst to first st and ch2. (50sts)

Rnds 7 - 11

Follow the chart below to add Yellow. These rnds are worked as normal, not in BL. (50sts)
