International Happiness Day is on March the 20th! To celebrate we’ve looked at some of the best crafts for happiness. It’s been proven that crafting not only gives you an enjoyable hobby, but it also makes you happy and relieves anxiety.

Happy Crafts

Crafting’s benefits stretch much further than once thought. Crafting helps you achieve a state called ‘flow’ which means you don’t notice time passing and are just focusing on the present, not over thinking about past events or stressful subjects. It helps people become more mindful, which has great benefits for your mental wellbeing.

Any crafts that are rhythmic, or repetitive can release hormones that help us feel calm, which is far away from the effects that social media can have on us.

Here are some of our favourite happy crafts:

Knitting is one of the best crafts for making you feel great! It’s repetitive which can make you really calm and focus on the moment.

Scrapbooking some of your favourite memories and photos is a therapeutic way of enjoying the past. We love creating scrapbooks of our favourite times!

Intricate embroidery is a great way to take your mind off any of the day-to-day stresses of life! Focusing just on the embroidery and concentrating on your technique makes the time-fly by.

Crochet is another technique which is good for calming, due to its competitive nature.

Setting yourself a craft goal is a great way of focusing your mind on the present! Taking the time to achieve it takes a lot of effort, but makes you feel great at the end. Quilting is a great project for this!
