This hanging star decoration is a great scandi-style addition to your home this Christmas. What's more, you can make this using any colours you like, so it's great for personalising to your very own colour scheme.

Materials:

How to make it:

1.  Start by moulding your clay. You will need to make 6 balls and 5 cubes. Use a wooden dowel to make a hole through the centre of each shape. Now leave to dry overnight.

2.  Once your shapes are dry, paint 4 of the balls grey, 2 white balls  with polka dots (once the white paint is dry, use a black sharpie pen to draw on black polka dots), and 3 of the cubes white and 2 of the cubes grey. Again, leave them to dry.

3. Use the die cutting machine and the Sizzix Tiny Star Framelit Die to cut 4 small stars and 2 large stars out of the mount board. Once you've done this, paint the back and front of each star black.

4. Create the black pom pom, using the black wool and your pom pom maker.

5.  Once you have all of the elements made start to thread them onto the string. Before you do this create a loop with the string, this is so you can hang your decoration and also to stop the beads coming off one end.

This is the pattern we used to thread our clay beads:

  • Grey round
  • Wooden button
  • White cube
  • Grey ball
  • Small star (using the two star pieces glue the white string in between, repeat for the other stars)
  • Polka dot ball
  • Wooden button
  • Grey cube
  • White cube
  • Big star
  • Grey ball
  • Polka dot ball
  • Wooden button
  • Grey cube
  • Small star
  • White cube
  • Wooden button
  • Grey ball

6. Tie a knot to secure your beads into place and then finally, use the Sizzix glue gun to glue the black pom pom onto the last bead.
