Hello! It’s Sarah-Jane from Flo & Dot, I’m really happy to be back as a guest on the Creative Rox blog. I have a fun crochet project to share with you - check out these cute crochet summer time pencil toppers!

If you love stationery as much as you love yarn, then this is a great project for you and perfect for using up any scraps of yarn!

Materials:

  • 3.5mm hook
  • DK cotton yarn in seven colours, I used yellow, black, white, pink, green, orange and brown.
  • 6mm safety eyes
  • Stuffing
  • Black embroidery thread for mouth and melon seeds, yellow, pink and white embroidery thread for lollipop sprinkles.
  • 3 pencils

Abbreviations (UK terms):

  • ch – chain
  • dc – double crochet
  • dc2tog – double crochet two together
  • st - stitch

Tip: Crochet in the round throughout. When changing colour, use the new colour for the last yarn over hook of previous stitch, keeping yarn on the wrong side of your work, drop yarn not being used and pick up again on the following row.
